We were ecstatic to discover that Skyfall, the twenty-third James Bond film due for release late this year contains Jellyfish Nightlights, stock footage produced by Bass Visuals. It is visible in a handful of shots towards the end of the trailer.

Expectations are high for the films director Sam Mendes since this year marks the 50th anniversary of the first James Bond film Dr. No (1962). Mendes is best known for American Beauty (1999) and Jarhead (2005).

We will definitely be making our way down to the cinema to check out Skyfall and see Jellyfish Nightlights on the big screen once again.

We are very excited to see our work in the trailer for the film The Darkest Hour, directed by Chris Gorak. The story follows a group of kids in Russia struggling to survive an alien invasion.

Jellyfish Nightlights Assets and Jellyfish Nightlights were used to create 2 minutes of unique footage which is visible on several large displays in the nightclub scene at the beginning of the trailer.

We were approached by the production company who had seen Jellyfish Nightlights and asked if we could produce 2 minutes of similar footage in a very short period. With no time to build additional assets we decided to construct a 3D composite using assets on hand. Jellyfish Nightlights Assets contains looping jellyfish rendered from several angles. Using these assets we were able to build groups of swimming jellyfish, all with relatively correct perspective. Floating particles and depth of field were added to the composite to give a greater sense of depth and scale.

Besides the fact that The Darkest Hour contains some of our stock footage we’re still eagerly awaiting it’s release in December 2011. Check out the trailer in glorious HD!

We are thrilled to see Jellyfish Nightlights featured in the current LG Magic Remote commercial. The Magic Motion Remote is much like Nintendo’s Wii controller. Control is acheived by pointing the remote at your TV to move a cursor and select your desired action.

Jellyfish Nightlights has sold over 150 times and this is the first time we’ve seen it in the wild. If you’ve spotted any of our footage or have used it yourself we’d love to hear about it.
